David’s rendition of “A long and winding road” originally sung by Paul McCartney, was in the word used by Simon Cowell, “AMAZING!”

But the road will get a little more bumpy if his fan base decides to take a pass instead of staying on track for David.

Fan Blast tracked calls throughout the evening as we do every week for the frontrunner, but a disturbing trend is starting to take shape and it may be trouble up ahead for the Idol crooner.

By using tracking models like Dialidol, and combining those results with a little of the human element, we are confident about our findings during the call voting process.

Our sources revealed a ‘trend’, a significant drop-off in calls from the south and midwest sections of the U.S. Many callers were ‘getting through’ without any trouble, and that can BE trouble. Because as funny as it sounds, busy signals are good, open phone lines are bad! Most of the measured success of an Idol is based on the dreaded busy signal!

With that said, this observation doesn’t bode too well for David as being the front runner. Some fans admittedly told Fan Blast that they didn’t vote because this is “in the bag” for David!

Goodness! …how we beg to differ! If the fans think that this is over then prepare for a wake up call and that could come sooner than later if this trend picks up momentum. Closing in right behind David is the other David, mister D Cook.

This is not new in the Idol world: Gather your thoughts for a moment, and reflect to all the winning American Idols in the last six years. Every single time when he/she was called up for landing in the bottom 3, it was a wake up call to the troops in their fan base.

The numbers will not be crunched until after American Idol share the vote total on Wednesday night. But if last week’s total of 29 million votes stay consistent, then we can say that David’s number dropped from 10 million to just about 8 million votes. That’s significant fans, even though David is safe tonight, he cannot afford anymore hits like that.

On to another observing note, we found the numbers for the bottom 3 were consistent in all of the regions reporting. Kristy Lee Cook, Amanda Overmyer and Chikezie Eze all stand close of going home on Wednesday. If we had to choose by the preliminary totals provided then Kristy Lee is going home tonight.

No letting down! We must keep our commitment to David, he did his part last night with his B plus plus performance of “Winding Road” after that debacle onstage last week. No voter apathy from here on out, we must come back strong for him next week and stay solid as a team week in and week out!
